SITE VALIDATION FOR
HIGH-DENSITY DEVELOPMENT

       CHALLENGE

Sekisui House’s $1.2 billion mixed-use development, West Village, has won over 50 industry awards for excellence. Prior to construction the site was on the QLD Environmental Management Register (EMR) due to legacy contamination from its previous industrial use.

       SOLUTION

​

TRACE undertook various stages of investigation at the 2.6Ha site, formerly the Peters Ice Cream Factory, to assess contaminated fill and acid sulfate soils. The team implemented a cost-saving remediation strategy, managed the required validation works, and prepared a Site Validation Report.

       RESULT

​

The works and validation report was reviewed and endorsed by an Environmental Auditor, seeing the site removed from the QLD Environmental Management Register (EMR), with no ongoing environmental management measures required.
