IN-SITU REMEDIATION

UAV AERIAL MAPPING

Accurately tracking the extent of remedial excavations, and the movement of excavated site materials, has long been a significant challenge for the Property Development and Contaminated Land Industries. TRACE has employed the latest cutting-edge 3D aerial surveying technology to enable earthworks tracking with pin-point accuracy.

The site digital twin/3D models that TRACE creates are geolocated with centimetre accuracy, allowing highly accurate interrogation of site data across any time-period within the data set. Any geometric measurement is possible, such as length, height, depth, slope angle, area, volume, etc, for any changes to site configuration which have occurred. TRACE will help you translate this invaluable data into both short & long-term savings for your project.

HI-RESOLUTION SITE CHARACTERISATION

TRACE employs a range of Hi-Resolution Site Characterisation (HRSC) technologies to assess and delineate the extent of site contamination; in real-time & with a high degree of accuracy.

Technologies used include:

  • Ultra Violet Optical Screening Tool (UVOST® & UVOST-HP)

  • Membrane Interface Probe (MIP) & MiHpt

  • Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) with optional dye-enhancement

  • Hydraulic Profiling Tool (HPT)

HRSC tools are often used to bridge the gap between conventional site investigation and remediation programs, to quickly and cost-effectively address any data gaps, and enable detailed 3D modelling of contaminant distribution to ensure that remedial works target the key areas. The use of HRSC technologies has saved our clients millions of dollars in reduced remediation costs.

IN-SITU REMEDIATION

Since inception, TRACE have actively promoted & implemented in-situ remediation technologies due to the numerous benefits offered, which include:

  • Avoiding costly landfill disposal fees

  • Minimising site disruption, enabling site operations to continue

  • Typically less capital intensive & more cost-effective than ex-situ remediation methods

  • Providing a more sustainable, lower carbon footprint solution, that is also more aligned with the regulatory framework

Some of the in-situ technologies implemented have included:

  • In-situ bioremediation, including carbon, nutrient and microbiological augmentation

  • Multi-Phase Extraction (Mobile and Fixed Systems)

  • In-situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO)

  • In-situ Air Sparging (IAS)

  • Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA), including enhanced MNA

  • Reactive groundwater treatment zones

Selecting the most appropriate remediation technology for a site is dependant on many factors, including site constraints and the available timeframe for completion of works. However, where suitable, in-situ remediation technologies can offer significant advantages and project savings.
